It's not easy to explain what it feels like when the bottom of your world falls out. Two and a half weeks ago that happened to my family. My dad suffered a serious brain injury after falling off of his pedal bike, less that a 1/10 of a mile from our house. He has been in a coma ever since. We are devastated and miss him more than words can describe. And yet, the hope and faith that we have as a family is beautiful, powerful, and amazing.
God is present in our situation. He has shown us His favor and blessing in so many, many ways. From the fact that two neighbors with first responder training were the first to find my dad within minutes of his accident to answering our prayers for something big for my dad (two days later my dad was breathing on his own and off of his ventilator). We continue to see His favor being shown for my dad. He remains free of major infections-a great risk in my dad's condition, he has an amazing team of doctors and nurses, and he is always surrounded by people who love him.
You see, my dad loves God too and I'm sure that my dad is feeling the love and prayers that so many are sending up his way. Together he and my mom raised us in a home where Jesus is Lord and from their choices we, their children, believe too. Without God I have know idea where we would be right now. We have heard of people praying for my dad all over the world. I am so thankful to belong to such a wonderful family-the family of God.
The days aren't easy, but I'm not afraid. God is with us and with my dad. It's going to be a long journey. There is a lot of recovery and progress to be made still. In my heart of hearts I firmly believe that dad is going to be ok and for that all glory be to god.
Keep praying with me.
