My own McDreamy, Things are falling in to place, and more thoughts

Well, several different topics = a longer blog. I half thought about blogging on them individually and realized what a waste of time. You'll just have to bare with me as this will be a longer post :p.

Last Thursday I had a small surgery done where they removed an enlarged lymph node in my neck/chin area. It was a surreal thing-I think that my blessing in the whole thing is that I've disassociated (again not sure how healthy this is) from the stress of this all. The lymph node has been HUGE since January. This is very rare and so they (doctors involved) wanted to remove it in order to biopsy it. YIKES! I am happy to report that the whole ordeal has gone over quite well. Revocery is a little more involved than I had thought, but I feel good. The incision is small-ish, and I have minimal bruising. The good news is that while a whole bunch of tests are being run on my lymph node, the surgeon feels confident that it's just overactive as it was soft when she took it out. Not hard like a cancerous one would be. So, prayers of thanksgiving are going up and prayers for good results are still being made.
BUT! The bonus in the situation was my (male) nurse. Oh my....my own McDreamy on the day of surgery. Tall, dark, handsome, muscular, and young. At first I thought I was hallucinating from the drugs, but then my dad said "I see you look at that hunky nurse over there". Totally called out. When the time came for me to go to the operating room, along he comes to roll me away. He made small talk and then apologized for the room being so cold. Commented on how the next room would be even colder and then said, "I think I'll get you another blanket. You won't need it right away, but you'll be happier with it". He then proceeded to tuck me in again. Thank god I was drugged. That way I couldn't be held completely responsible for anything I may have said about him or to him. I only hope that some day I can work at Oaklawn and meet him again.

Today I met with my advisor at KCC. I am officially registered for my first semester of RN classes. I think this will all work out well. I had started to second guess my choice of going to nursing school. It's scary to think that I'll be responsible for people's health, that people could actually die on my watch, and that I will be poking people and giving them meds. It seems so heavy. And yet today, things just fell in to place so well that I can not deny that this is where I am meant to be. Thank God for His confirmations, leadings, and favor.

I think a lot lately about how my life is going to change so much in the next few months. I won't lie-it's completely overwhelming! Despite the overwhelming aspects of it all, I feel good about it. Good things are coming and I can't wait to share them!

Men in Uniform!

For years and years a man in a uniform has been beyond attractive to most women. There is something about their presence that is difficult to explain. Short of the quickening of my pulse, flush in my cheeks, and desire to have them serve and protect me (ha ha ha), I don't have many words ;).
Today I was in my office writing a report. I heard one of my bosses come through the hallway. She was talking to someone and it sounded like she was about to lead them in to my office. She usually gives tours to donors, but also gives us a heads up so that we can make sure the space is presentable. No heads up today. As I wracked my brain to make sure that I didn't just forget, in walks not one, but two very HOT police officers. Yup! Battle Creek PD's finest. They were gang task force members, all geared up, and looking good. For some sick reason, I'm totally attracted to this type too. You know, the "understand that I have the power to mess you up if I need to" type. Again, I hardly have words. I was so thankful that I was caught off guard by this. Had I known they were coming I'm sure I would have made a complete fool of myself.

I'm sure I'll be seeing more of them too. Yesterday our office was (just shy of) a block away from a drive by shooting, at 2pm. It was the third gang/drug related shooting in four days. The second shooting that was "just a stone's throw away" from my office front door. I truly work in the most interesting, not so safe area of Battle Creek. While this isn't a good thing, the police presence in our building today was reassurance that they are aware, working, and committed to the community's safety. Not to mention that them stopping by guarantees some eye candy around an office that is 99.9% of the time filled with females (geesh! I would be annoyed with a guy if he had a posting like this. Double standard anyone?)

What to do with yesterday?

How is it that time is going by so quickly? It seems as if I just blogged and then I realized that it's been almost a month! WOW!

Well, this upcoming weekend is filled with my big move....back to my parents house. Hmmmmm... I'm so thankful for their generousity, support, and willingness to help however they can for me to go back to school. However, I haven't lived with them for almost 8 years. It will be weird, I'm not gonna lie. But, I suppose the adjustment is a small price to pay for free rent, meals, and laundry for a year. I'm sure this won't be the last you hear about all of this though-so be prepared. I'm going to need to some help with this one from time to time.

So, on to my question. What to do with yesterday? As I sort through my belongings, I'm trying to determine what to get rid of and what to take with me. Some things are obvious. No! I don't need a basket full of old mail. No! I don't need to pack all of knick knacky crap. There is just way too much of it. Thank you to my friend Amanda, I know that most of it has found a good home. But, then there are the things of yesterday...concert tickets, pictures, journals, etc....I saved these kinds of things in the first place because they all had a good story and I believe that keeping them ensures my memory of that time will stay in tact. Realistically-that stuff grows when I'm not looking. And, over the years I keep adding more and more to the pile. As I was sorting I started to remember. Most things were good, funny, and happy times to remember. Some involved an idiotic moment, bad decision, broken heart, whatever...None the less, I am having a hard time deciding-to keep or not to keep. What do you do with yesterday?
